Learn to Sail

The Training Centre offers a range of Sail Training Courses providing a learn-to-sail pathway for all ages from beginners to learning to race.

Saturday Morning Sailing School

McCrae runs a busy and vibrant sailing school for members of all ages on Saturday mornings. We conduct sailing school during November and December leading up to Christmas and another four weeks during February. Saturday mornings often see up to 60 participants, young and old out on the water learning and refining their sailing skills.

The courses available to McCrae Yacht Club members on Saturday morning fall into three groups and are described below. Each participant will be allocated to the group most appropriate to their current level and moves to the next level as soon as they are competent and we can accommodate them in the higher group.

Participants of Saturday morning Sailing School are expected to be at the club by 9:00am with their boats rigged and ready to sail by 9:15am. All courses finish at 12:00.

Enrolments are taken on a '€˜first in, first served'€™ basis and spaces are limited. We encourage members to enrol at the earliest opportunity to avoid disappointment.

The prerequisites for all Saturday morning groups are:

Must be an adequate swimmer and comfortable in deep water.

Must be a member of McCrae Yacht Club
